Jack being Silly

Tommy's First Day of Preschool

First off, let me say that overall it was a very successful day.

We had Tommy all ready for the bus to pick him up at 7:50am but once it got here, he didn't want to go on. Thank God, there was a 5 point harness for him as it took everything I had to hold him in and buckle him. (NOTE: he wasn't supposed to have the harness - as of the last conversation I had with his coordinator, although Tom and I requested the harness, we were going to wait and see how he did with the lap belt alone so it was quite a good surprise to see the harness for him). Needless to say, Tommy was SCREAMING. I kissed him goodbye and got off the bus. I started crying as soon as I turned around.

His teacher was nice enough to call me around 10:30am to let me know that Tommy was smiling when he got off the bus (the driver said he stopped as soon as I was out of sight) and having a wonderful time playing. She even let me say hi to him on the phone and he sounded fine. She did mention something about a meltdown regarding the train table - surprise, surprise...

When he got off the bus late morning, he was all smiles. He said he wanted more so we took that as a good sign. I'm sure Monday will hold much of the same as today but I will be much better prepared emotionally. (the last two pictures below are of him coming home)

Thanks to everyone who kept Tommy (and me!) in their thoughts and prayers today!

Happy Birthday Tommy!!

Since today was Tommy's actual birthday, we did a cake for him this afternoon. He was so funny - he was so excited to blow out the candles and everything but then he wouldn't take a bite of the cake. I think he was disappointed it wasn't another construction cake. So, most of the cake eating pictures are of Jack who couldn't have cared less what kind of cake it was. The pictures of him are in a progression order - Enjoy!

Tommy's First Homework Project

Well, Tommy received his first homework assignment. Actually, his teacher was so nice to let me know that the rest of the children in Tommy's class were going to have these projects completed for Friday. Since Friday is Tommy's first day, she didn't want him to feel left out. Below is the project description:

This week’s theme will be All About Me. As a homework assignment for the week I ask that you create a collage on an 8x11 sheet of paper (construction). Please work with your child and place a family picture, fun things you and your child like to do, anything to explain your family and things you do as a family. (Pictures cut out of magazines/family photos/photos of fun things you do) Remember: This is for you and your child to complete together! Talk about the pictures and ask them their favorite memory. Have the children glue the pictures down or have them cut something out of a magazine (hand over hand)! It should not be perfect we are only in preschool! Make if fun! We will show these on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th during Show and Tell.

Here is the project completed - my Tommy's first school project. He really did most of it himself. The only thing I did was pick out the pictures. He chose the color of the paper, cut the pictures (with minimal help I might add - he does not like help with scissors - I saved many a head on this project), glued the back of the pictures (with a little help), chose where on the paper to place it, and put down the stickers. I was very proud of him.

(Mom, see the Bob the Builder from your card!!)

Some Cute Pictures

These are just some random photos from over the past couple of weeks. There is one picture of Jack with the cut next to his eye - Believe me, it wasn't as bad as it looks in the picture. All of the brown stuff on his face is chocolate NOT dirt and bruises.

Video from Tommy's Party

The Birthday Party Continued...

Here are the pictures from the rest of the party. We had a small bouncer thing in the backyard that the kids really enjoyed. It was really hot out so they didn't last too long. Tommy received so many wonderful gifts and enjoyed opening them for the first time. Overall we had a wonderful day!!

Tommys Birthday Party!! The Cake

First off, I am going to try and cut down on the pictures I post here but I can't promise anything. We have so many good pictures and video and for those of you in Maryland, I want you to see it all!!

This past Sunday we had Tommy's third birthday party and it was "Construction" themed. He seemed to have a lot of fun. We had some neighborhood kids over to make it the first "kids" party we have done. The cake was so awesome and Tommy appreciated it so much that it deserves its own post so here are the pictures from that (I'll put videos in a later post)

A Hard Day of Playing

These are just some photos of the boys playing. These first two demonstrate how much Jack has learned from Tommy about playing with cars and trains - he actually gets down on the ground to play... he is too much!

These were just us playing outside today. Jack was playing with the chalk and cars while Tommy and Tom played soccer. It was very hot and the boys got all red.

Lastly, Jack got into the cheez-its - need I say more?
